![]() ![]() you can act as an effective anchor & tank for a fleet. If you can efficiently tank a lot of damage on your shields, and then vent your flux with only a couple seconds of vulnerability. More dissipation makes you vent faster, as does +X% vent speed (+25% available in the Tech player skills, another +25% available on a ship mod). Do this when there's not a bunch of missiles positioned to hit you before you can raise them again. ![]() When your hard flux builds up to about half, you can vent- dropping your shields. You can improve this further with the Combat shield skills, and the Hardened Shields mod. For example, the Apogee has a 0.7 shield efficiency (meaning, each point of damage hitting it generates 0.7 hard flux on you), so it is very durable. because stations can't dodge!įor tanky ships, try to get your shield efficiency as good (lower number = better) as possible, then flux dissipation and vent speed. Generally, you want one or more extremely durable cruisers or capital ships as the anchor for your line- able to tank fire from the station while your other ships can engage it with long range weapons, missiles, and fighter/bombers.īombers are incredibly effective vs stations. I've gotten close, so close so many times, but I end up having my readyness go down and my ships eliminated by the station as they can focus on those that have drifted out by themselves and *** on them with massed missile and bomber strikes. And its not like I can re-designate targets as the enemy shifts its line cause I only have limited amounts of order and it takes a *** age to get new ones. Half the times I feel like I'm being outright ignored by my ships. When I try to designate ships to engage (I don't know when to engage or eliminate or strike craft) the ship pulls back behind enemy lines and my genius captains decide to follow them, getting flanked and being destroyed or wasting all their strike craft striking deep into enemy lines where they get eliminated from PD fire. I order my fleet to avoid the station to keep them from firing valuable missiles at it. I try to keep my fleet together to tank the initial salvo of missiles and fighters with massed PD, but then I have to split my fleet up to take each side of the station.
